Building a Thriving Practice with Integrity: Why Get-Rich-Quick Coaching Isn't the Answer

Last week, I attended an integrative medicine conference and left feeling so inspired. I spent time soaking up new research, learning about emerging approaches, and connecting with doctors, nutritionists, naturopaths, and acupuncturists—all deeply committed to making real change in healthcare, even in a time when that feels extra complicated. It was a breath of fresh air.

And then... I went to a lunch-and-learn on scaling Telehealth practices, and wow—talk about a vibe shift. I was expecting insights into the legal challenges of Telehealth, maybe some solid advice on best practices. Instead, I got a full-blown alpha-male pitch, full of awkward name-dropping, on how to make seven figures while working two days a week. The whole "just follow these five steps to get rich quick" energy was not it.

Integrative and functional medicine already gets unfairly labeled as snake oil, which is absurd when you meet the kind of providers at these conferences—people buried in research, pushing boundaries, and actually trying to make a difference. But these guys? The ones selling programs about selling programs? They are the real snake oil salesmen.

And sure, I believe this speaker has helped businesses scale. I’m sure some people have followed his formula and learned how to sell $15K programs. But are they really helping people?

Can we just stop with the get-rich-quick nonsense? Because honestly, it’s not good for anyone.
